KOLA – Outdoor Learning Academy
For students whose brilliance shows up differently.
We serve learners who think in ways that don’t always align with traditional classroom expectations. KOLA combines BC-aligned academics with nature-based learning for youth ages 6-18, creating space for different types of intelligence to flourish through hands-on investigation and authentic challenges.
Our program is academically structured, emotionally responsive, and built for students who thrive in small-group environments grounded in trust and connection. KOLA offers an educational approach that works with how they think.
KOLA: A Nature-Based Outdoor Learning Academy in British Columbia
KOLA is a Waldorf-inspired, teacher-led forest academy offering a deeply human, nature-rooted alternative to conventional education in BC.
We are a full-spectrum outdoor learning academy designed for today’s world, blending nature-based education, experiential learning, and BC curriculum outcomes.
Our Approach
We support learners ages 6–18 through hands-on, land-based education rooted in compassion, structure, and developmental science.
We're not screen-free — we just use tech differently
At KOLA, students learn to use tools like digital microscopes, AI prompts, solar kits, mapping software, and even thermal cameras to support hands-on, real-world learning. It’s not about avoiding technology — it’s about using it intentionally, as part of a much bigger experience.
Who We Serve
We welcome neurodivergent, gifted, sensitive, and spirited children with inclusive education that brings students together.
Teacher-Led
Children need role models who lead with clarity, care, and consistency. We support autonomy without stepping back entirely.
